Free TON, a decentralized international community of developers and enthusiasts, has launched a brand new competition to revise the Wikipedia governance model, offering rewards worth thousands of dollars.
Wikipedia currently has over twenty-one million unique articles, and while many last-minute homework reports have been stored in the dusty halls of these sacred, community-moderated forums, the way we review information continues to evolve. As the cornerstone of Internet information databases, it is vital that Wikipedia is always one step ahead. The key to this could come from a system familiar to blockchain governance specialists. Byzantine fault tolerance.
Since May 2020, the Free TON community has been working on the mechanics of governance models in its ambitious social experiment to decentralize the Internet. Now that they’re entering their sophomore year, the community has one wiki-lutionary new competitionto redefine the model of indexing online encyclopedias.
The competition with the title Free Cyclopedia, draws no blows in its criticism of the current flow of information about the world’s leading resource. It states that problems such as grandfathering (old members with disproportionate power), uneven development and poor quality of items can be overcome. To usher in this new age of decentralized information, the first stage of the competition is offering TON Crystal rewards worth over $ 80,000 to those ready to take the challenge!
