D&G unveils Alta Moda-inspired NFT collection
Well-known brands have invaded the crypto space to join the non-fungible token (NFT) revolution. Brands like Topps, Warner Bros., UFC, DeLorean Motor Company, Playboy, MLB, TIME, and USA Today have all stepped into this new industry.
On July 14th, the popular fashion brand and the Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana announced that they too would join the NFT craze. D&G has made a wide variety of products such as clothing and perfumes, but this will be the company’s first NFT product.
“Dolce & Gabbana Proudly Unveils DGGenesi,” D&G tweeted. “The first exclusive Alta Moda NFT collection in cooperation with the luxury marketplace unxd.com. The unxd.com marketplace explains how D&G NFT bidders can “reserve a place in line”.
D & G’s Collezione Genesi collection follows the high fashion NFTs from Clothia and Gucci
According to a report by fashion magazine Vogue, the D&G NFT collection will premiere at the Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioelleria shows from August 28th to 30th in Italy. The term “Alta Moda” means “High Fashion” and DGGenesi or the “Collezione Genesi” collection was inspired by this trend.
Usually Alta Moda is also known as “Haute Couture”, which is basically the case when a fashion designer uses handmade fabrics with an eye for detail. In the 1880s and the end of the 19th century, Alta Moda in Milan also meant “fashionable”.
D&G followed high fashion brand Gucci when the company recently sold its NFT “Gucci Aria” through Christie’s auction house. The Gucci branded NFT sold for $ 25,000 and the proceeds from the Gucci Aria NFT will go to Unicef USA. Clothia, a luxury online retailer, also recently announced an NFT collection based on high fashion clothes.
