Officials said a stretch south of San Francisco closed Wednesday due to a highway shooting.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Mark Andrews said that the southbound stretch of 280 passes through the downtown area, from Sixth Street / King Street to Cesar Chavez, is closed.

“All s / b on-ramps at King St, 6th St, & Mariposa Street will be closed for unknown duration,” CHP said on Twitter. “Please use US-101 s / b as alternate routes. All recent closed highways will be provided here.”

Someone injured in the shooting that occurred at about 10:45 a.m. Andrews said the injuries are not life-threatening.


The highway will be closed until at least 1:30 pm as officers conduct an investigation.
