Loki Episode 6 Recap: Tom Hiddleston Show Introduces New Super Villain In Cliffhanger Finale

The multiverse has finally opened up in Marvel Cinematic Universe and things won’t stay the same as timelines get messed up. Loki’s finale was as decisive as fans expected, and the events will have a ripple effect on everything that lies ahead for the MCU.

Loki Episode 5 ended with the two variants defeating Alioth in The Void, standing hand in hand as a single entity, at the helm of the Citadel. We knew that the fortress-like structure at the end of time belonged to the brain that runs the TVA. But who comes out was the trigger point of the final.

Loki Episode 6, also the finale, begins with the two Loki crossing a portal that harbors an asteroid with the Citadel in the middle. Once inside, they are welcomed by Miss Minutes who congratulates them on completing their long journey. She offers them a deal to go back to their respective lives with everything they longed for, or lost in their lives.

She promises Loki a victory in the Battle of New York, a defeat of Thanos and the throne of Asgard, with Infinity Gauntlet in the mix. Sylvie is allowed to live a peaceful life around people she can trust and love. But for this, the two must abandon their plan to destroy the TVA and reveal its truth. After a moment of emotional rush, Loki and Sylvie refuse and meet the main man behind the Time Variance Authority.

Enter a new character in the MCU – ‘He Who Remains’, the mastermind behind the corrupt organization, proving Sylvie’s claim that TVA is indeed not the true protector of time. He explains his origin and how, without his control, the Sacred Timeline would collapse and create the multiverse. This would lead to a clash between several evil versions of himself, which he currently kept at bay via TVA.

Meanwhile, Mobius confronts Ravonna Renslayer about siding with the TVA, saying she trusts the authority. She picks up some documents and flees the TVA with her TempPad. On the other hand, Hunter B-15 travels to the year Ravonna was a school teacher to prove to her guards that TVA is indeed a farce.

Back to The Void, He Who Remains says the two Lokis can rule TVA, as he is impressed by their will, and assures that they will be re-posted on the Sacred Timeline and coexist in the same world without disturbing anything.

“You know you can’t reach the end until you’ve been transformed by the journey. This stuff, it has to happen.”

While Loki trusts He Who Remains’ claims, Sylvie has her doubts. The two Variants get into a fight when Loki tries to convince Sylvie that he doesn’t want the throne, but her safety. He begs her to believe in him as the two share a moment of quiet love and a kiss. But Sylvie quickly uses the TemPad and sends Loki back to the TVA, picks up her dagger and digs it deep into the heart of He Who Remains.

Sylvie collapses after killing He Who Remains, but we see the Sacred Timeline shatter into hundreds of pieces, wreaking havoc on the TVA. As Loki rushes to Mobius and Hunter B-15 to tell them everything that happened in the Citadel, the two refuse to recognize him, suggesting that the tampering with the main timeline has had an adverse effect.

The episode ends with a pan-shot of a confused and concerned-looking Loki looking at a large statue near the TVA, where the three Time Keepers previously stood. Now there is only one statue – of He Who Remains, in the avatar of Kang the Conqueror, presumably the new super villain from Marvel’s Phase 4.

‘Loki returns in season 2’ – this post-credit recording is already intriguing fans!
