Where is white noise in production?
Current production status: Shooting from the end of June 2021
When we first covered the film in September 2020, all we knew was that the film would be shot in 2021. Of course, due to the restrictions in the US in September, it wasn’t exactly clear when this would happen.
Then various production plans stated that the film should be shot sometime in the summer of 2021, with most apparently pointing to the end of June 2021 and being shot under the working title Wheat germ.
On June 24, The Chronicle Telegram, which reports news for Elyria and Lorain, reported that rehearsals for the film had begun and that sets were being built in Wellington and Oberlin. They said filming was scheduled for mid-July 2021. Wellington Mayor Hans Schneider told The Chronichle:
“I think it’s great. Every time you can showcase your community, it’s an opportunity for us to do our best. Downtown has a unique flair. All of these buildings were built in the 19th century – (and there are) the architecture of the town hall and its presence in the area, the beauty of the Herrick Memorial Library and the shop fronts in the city center. ”
On June 30th, WKYC Studios released a short clip of Adam Driver arriving to begin filming preparations. A short news segment that we embedded below. It’s a blurry photo of Adam Driver, but a photo nonetheless!
A local news channel also recorded the fact that filming had started with a 30-second segment on News 5 Cleveland with different set images.
According to the production plans known to us, the film will be shot throughout the summer and will be completed at the end of September 2021. Conflicting reports suggest filming may not end before January 2022.
After wrapping, Greta Gerwig will direct her next film Barbie distributed by Warner Brothers. Baumbach and Gerwig helped write the script.
