A miraculously woman suffered only minor injuries after she was seized by a stranger to open her car door and speed through a Santa Cruz cliff Thursday.

The woman was sitting in her car in the Lighthouse Point parking lot, which was mounted in Monterey Bay. Santa Cruz police said someone walked in the passenger side door and opened it, thinking by mistake it was their car.

According to police, “spooked” this driver, who accelerated and drove the car on the cliff. Luckily, rescue teams were able to find the woman and bring her to safety.

“This incident was really an accident,” police wrote on Twitter. “People who opened the door thought they were entering the passenger seats of the cars which was a similar pattern in color. The cars were parked with each other. It was dark and the person did not see well at night. “

The driver suffered a foot injury; no one else was injured in the incident.
